Peptide Storage Guide: Before and After Reconstitution
Updated 2026-08-20
Lyophilized (powder) vials
Freeze-dried peptides are stable: weeks at room temperature is generally fine for most compounds, refrigeration extends that to many months, and freezing (-20°C) preserves them for years. Keep them dark and dry; heat and humidity are the enemies.
After reconstitution
Once water is in, the clock starts. Refrigerate at 2–8°C, keep the vial upright and dark, and use within the commonly cited 4–6 week window (with bacteriostatic water). Do not freeze reconstituted peptides — ice crystals shear the molecules.
Fragile exceptions degrade faster: IGF-1 LR3 and other growth factors are typically used within 2–4 weeks and should never be shaken.
Travel and handling
For short trips, an insulated pouch with a cold pack covers 24–48 hours safely. Avoid leaving vials in cars or direct sunlight — a single hot afternoon can degrade a vial that would otherwise last weeks. For flights, keep vials in carry-on with the pharmacy-style label facing out.
